AREA INFORMATION
Palatine Hill is the centremost of the Seven Hills of Rome, and one of the most ancient parts of the city. Home to greats of ancient times, the hill derives its name for the word “palace”. According to legend, Palatine Hill was the location of the mythical cave where a wolf mother nursed the twin founders of the city, Romulus and Remus. Interestingly, a decorated ancient cave was discovered on the hill in January, 2007, during restoration works carried out in the palace of Emperor Augustus. This venerable hill is today a large open-air museum that gives you the opportunity to experience the age-old legacy of the Eternal City.
